The Society’s External Competitions are organised to help broaden the horizons of our members outside of our campus, and not just in the UK, but also in Europe.
Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot
One of the most well-known and prestigious European mooting competitions, Willem C. Vis Moot hosts hundreds of teams from a wide array of universities from all around the world.
Its aim is to foster the study of international commercial law and arbitration for resolution of international business disputes through its application to a concrete problem of a client and to train law leaders of tomorrow in methods of alternative dispute resolution.
Lancaster University has always been present in Vienna, Austria, for the past years, proving each time great advocacy skills and teamwork.
Roses Mooting Competition
Every year Lancaster University battles the University of York in numerous competitions over the Roses weekend.
Recently, it has been decided to have mooting introduced as one of the rounds. The host university settles the judges, problem question and other details in cooperation with a representative from the other university. Our representative is normally the External Officer.
Teams are made of two students and usual mooting rules apply.
Other competitions include:
National Mooting by ESU/Essex Court Chambers
National Speed Mooting Competition
