The Law Society runs a number of events throughout the year to give you the information you need to make an informed decision about which career path to follow. We work closely with the careers advisor in the Law School (Professor David Milman) as well as university’s careers service (known as ‘Careers’). For a brief overview of what the careers service does click here.

You can find out about careers events, information and opportunities through the Law Society Facebook page, from which you can receive notifications, the weekly newsletter, as well as through the calendar which will be featured on this website.

We have arranged a number of useful workshops throughout the year focusing on:

  • Improving your CV
  • Skills Sessions
  • Commercial Awareness
  • Work Experience: Vacation Schemes & Mini-Pupillages
  • LPC & BPTC
  • Recruitment Process: Training Contracts & Pupillages

We also have also engaged with a number of leading Law Firms and Barristers to deliver informative talks throughout the year, often providing helpful tips on how to succeed in the various stages of the application process and what life is like as a Solicitor/Barrister.

Law Fair

This is an event we have significant input into with a range of law firms from all over the country attending to give you the chance to speak to them and get any questions you may have answered. There will also a number of professional bodies attending as well as representatives from the Bar.

Careers Dinner

The Careers Dinner has been one of the most successful events organised by the Law Society. This event will enable students to network with leading law firms at a formal dinner and is useful in really getting to know law firms before making an application.
Regular Attendees at the Careers Dinner are:
• Allen & Overy
• Bird & Bird
• DLA Piper
• Freshfields
• Hogan Lovells
• Macfarlanes
• Pinsent Masons
